Kids Church News

The year has kicked off in Kids Church with the first of our Fruit of the Spirit Series (Galatians 5:22)!

What Happens in Kids Church?

Each week we aim to have elements that grow the children in the knowledge and love of God and His word; in character; all in a healthy and loving church environment

- Bible Lesson (including a monthly memory verse from the bible)

- Kids Praise & Worship

- Games

- Art & Craft Activity

- Snacks

- Free Play (in the Playground)

As you well know though, Kids Church is additional to the discipleship which happens at home. To enhance what your child is learning at Kids Church, please refer to the sheet brought home each week which contains the weekly lesson as well as the monthly ‘memory verse’.

Check out our Fruit of the Spirit Praise and Worship Song on iTunes. Vineyard Music Fruit of the Spirit: Banana Na Na. Each week we are aiming to teach the kids the sign for the fruit we are discovering, try and encourage them in this skill.

Living Temple Christian Church is MOVING!

There are so many exciting ways that Living Temple Christian Church is growing, and alongside news of New members of the Leadership Team, New Life Groups, Great Christmas Services and wonderful individual growth across the board we have even more great news…

WE ARE MOVING VENUE!

In a church with a growing number of gifted people, and increasing numbers in our Kids Church we have decided that while our current venue has been a wonderful blessing, and the staff at Elanora High have been amazing, it is time for us to find a new venue suited to our new needs.

As of January we will be meeting 4-5:30pm Sundays at the Salvation Army Church in Elanora on Kalamunda Close. It is a wonderful venue with air-con, great kids facilities (including a playground), a kitchen (for all those gifted with hospitality) and more. As it is really close to the Motorway (and easy to find) it is going to make getting to Sunday Services easier for many. We are so thankful to the Salvos for allowing us to rent their facilities and their constant support of churches all around our area.

Jesus good and evil

I preached on the weekend, and it really messed with me. One part of the message was about the influence post-Modern and post-Christian mindsets will have on our church… one thing that surprised me is how intolerant people are toward our message of Jesus because they claim we are being intolerant to other religions… ironic much???

I am not bitter, I am excited and curious more than anything… I wonder if the exclusivity of Jesus will eventually be taboo to the point of persecution??? I kind of hope so! The Kingdom of God rises up under persecution and I am super keen for the Kingdom of God to rise! I Don’t want this to get all “doomsday like” but I was hoping people would respond with what they think the future of the kingdom of God will look like… My guess… Feel free to predict, prophesy, speculate or whatever… I’m guessing I believe the Kingdom will rise strong, but It will be hard to see. It will be underground and relational, and there will be pockets of Jesus Lovers everywhere, but you may not notice them as easily… Some Church buildings will be hard to fill, but those that persevere will be rewarded. Some buildings will be easier to fill, but maybe with listeners that don’t even know Jesus. Some won’t ever think of church buildings because they find it easier just to go for it without having to worry about the logistical sides of organisations.….to be honest, if I didn’t feel a call of God to plant Living Temple, I would be in the last group…. AND Jesus would still love me

That’s my guess… Whatever the case, God is stronger and has ultimate victory… what do you think? Check out my message if you get 28 minutes free… you may be surprised

Small Beginnings - helping to put God's church on the internet

This website ministry has been a great tool to help assist Living Temple communicate what’s happening in the life of the church (and the life of Dave and myself).

As clever as we would like to be, it is not our doing (as I didn’t even understand what a blog was until this year!) Small Beginnings ministry put together this website and we have had loads of positive feedback, so here is a shout out to Nick and small-beginnings.net – thank you so much from all who have benefitted from this awesome ministry.

The stink of bums on seats!

One of the biggest challenges I have faced since planting a life-group based church is shifting my thinking and focus from inside the church building, to outside.

I have been in traditional churches for about 9 years – 7 of them as a paid pastor -  and I need to say it’s EXTREMELY hard to shake counting “bums on seats” as a measure of success… I use the term “success” loosely.

The reality is that our life groups are absolutely charging!

  • They are growing, bearing fruit and reaching people for Jesus.
  • God is being extremely faithful and gracious…
  • God is blessing us with exactly what we were praying for.
  • People are truly living for Jesus everyday… and
  • Our Sunday celebration (although awesome) is NOT the big deal at Living Temple…

Now all I need is for old habits to die, as I yield completely to the Holy Spirit. I need my thoughts and feelings to line up with the truth.

The truth is that “bum’s on seats” is a bogus indicator potentially championed by Satan and insecure men. It causes a spirit of competition, pride and false self-worth and hinders God multiplying his church his way. In the past it has caused me to sell-out on my convictions and banter to humanistic needs instead of God’s will. Christians obsessed with “bums on seats” (as I have been before) need a reality check…it’s a joke and nobody is laughing (just my opinion).

God is growing Living Temple Church. I cannot control it, I cannot manage it, and all I can do is leave it to God who is actually able to do the job I cannot.

Please God, Kill everything in me that is not of you, and give me freedom to follow you, your way. I repent of counting numbers and choose now to humble myself and pull my head in. Thanks for understanding me God, you’re the best!

Dave
